Confliction only if you are going to the wrong places.

I was under the assumption you can have anything you like, providing there's no clearance issues / structural mods or adapters to compensate.

The above answers I would have thought were Insurance tolerances.

Legally they have to be within 15mm of the original rolling diameter, and no more then 25mm wider then (this is an ambiguous bit) the widest wheel fitted to that series.
EL GT had 8.5" so you could argue 9.5" is legal for EL.
That is Vic anyway, most states are fairly similar in that regard, just different wording.
No more then 2" of rim size used to be included in that, some states may still have that wording as mentioned above, I'm not sure.
Either way, you really shouldn't be hassled for 18s.

GOTO VicRoads web site, it's clearly marked there.

I was talking to my mate last night, and I said I was getting 19s in the next few days, and he said I needed to get them engineered because his mates been done a couple of times for running 18s on his VL.

Can a copper legally give you a defect notice for 18s?

Only way to be 100%, forum/mate heresay is utterly useless.

Gonig off what your mate says, if that is true, NSW must sill have 'no more then 2" upsize' rule.
So if you wanted 18s you'd need a tyre placard with 16s or larger stated on it.

Man, it must suck putting up with this crap all the time. I have never heard of this in NSW being a problem. I reckon you could pull up at a cop shop with a neon sign on your car listing all the defects and they still wouldn't care. Unless your speeding, drunk or being a total tool you really have no problem.

or a P plater in an area where cops hate young drivers.
T
here are a lot of young d**k drivers around my area though....

Went thru and found that NSW is the rolling diameter, not 2 inches.
Cops = s**t.
