4mab has a higher nodular iron content which make them stronger, and is sought after by performance engine builders. mainly used in 4v clevelands, originally designed/cast for the 71 boss 351 mustangs

I think also used in Homvees in 1991 Iraq war - when the vehicles were scrapped the cranks were much sought after.

Its the Brinell testing mark...
May not necessarily be stronger than normal untested crank.. The high output cranks from 72 where all tested.. & stamped 4MA...

EBXR is correct....the nodularity of the iron is the same so no crank is stronger than any other.
The Aussie "351" marked cranks are likely better than any of the earlier U.S. cranks due to improved manufacturing processes...of course 4MA and B cranks were also made here before they changed any tooling because the the tooling was shipped as is from the U.S. It's luck of the draw which cranks appear in Aussie engines but generally a Bronco from the 80's has an ARD 351 crank. |

very good advice! ask any crankshaft grinder they will tell you the spark pattern is different with higher iron content....

They all weigh the same because they are all made of the same nodular iron.
