1. Remove towbar
2. Paint in flat black paint, two coats. 3. Replace 4. Admire

i wouldn't be worried mate - what you've done will make sure it looks the best it could - you've prepped it well, so the job will look top notch!

Haham, yer - all you needed to do was clean it, spray it 2 or so coats to ensure even application n them dry - clear if ur very fussy.. then fit.
I need to re-do mine soon, someone hit my towbar with a white car - buggers!

Looks like the previous owner did the same thing to mine before he sold it .. just to make it looks better.

Fish oil is used to prevent rust when the metal is unpainted.
Also, paint don't stick well to oil of any kind. I don't know what made you think it did. Oiling something before you paint it just ensures that the paint will peel off in about a week. |

Quite right fish oil is used inside doors etc to prevent rust, not as a primer. If you need a rust resistant primer then a good red oxide primer will work well on a towbar.

Well there you go; you did the job right and no doubt well. Hope it lasts a long long while.
