oneday id like to get a tired 4.0l engine and mess around with it and also have a go at rebuilding it.

what rebuild kits such as cylinder kit/timing kit do i need to buy to fully rebuild it

can someone please list the kits needed to rebuild a e series engine wether e series or au spec or tell me the sites to go to.

when i put new cylinders in do i have to have to have the block boared

when i degreese the block does it matter if i get a bit of water down the cylinder holes if i wipe it or how do you properly degreese and wash the block clean

i sent mine of to and engineer but you need to follow these steps:

1. choose how 'oversize' i went 0.5mm
2 purchase the rebuild kit i chose ACL
3. send parts to engineer/ machinist (pistons, block, head, crank, old pistons etc)
the engineer will bore and hone to suit and can also deck the block and head, crack test, clean (spin wash/acid bath) and linish the crank

4. rebuild engine
the only extra thing i needed to buy apart from my rebuild kit was a timing kit as a wanted a new chain and guides

yeah, if going rebuild id get new oil pump and water pump.
you'll also need all ur bearings.
id suggest an au head gasket as their stronger and thinner

also need an engine rebuild kit, which shoujld have all the bottom end gaskets, and a vrs kit, whoich has all the top end gaskets
