Don't forget, the tyre will bulge and deform a little on cornering and bumps, so there is a chance it will hit and leave marks on the tyre. What you really need to do is invest in some new ball joints, like TRW, which have a much lower profile base compared to the factory Ford ones, which you seem to have. Then you'll have a 8 to 10mm gap. |

trw ball joints.. hmm sounds like an idea. You reckon it might even let me fit the 225/60/16 ive got lying around doing nothing

I don't know if TRW are the only ones that are a lower profile, they are the only ones I've used. Unless they've changed the design in the past 12 months.
