Gday all,
I was wondering if a 235/60/15 will fit on a 7inch width rim. I wanna fit bridgestone eagers to a el ghia rim. i can also get them in 225/60/15. Comments/thoughts?? Thx

yep 235 on a 15x7" rim is alright...... any less rim width will make the tyre look like a balloon

Just to be sure, are the EL ghia rims definitely 7"? Not 6.5"?

Yep, I believe they are 6.5" not 7'.
The widest you could comfortably fit on a 6.5" is a 215/60/15 or if you want bulging side walls, 225/60/15. Also ensure you rolling diameter is within required specs. BenJ

If you have the rims without tyres fitted, it might be best to measure them yourself. Measure between the flanges, where the beads sit.

on a similar note, i've got 18x8.5's.. apart from being incredibly difficult to fit (i fit myself) will 265/30/18s fit nicely? they'l rub fronts wont they?

I looked at one tyre's specs, a 265/35R18, and the narrowest rim it was designed to fit was 9". My guess is they will rub bad. If so, where they rub will mostly be a product of their offset. 245 is the common fitment to these rims, i haven't heard of more than this fitted to the front. You could adjust the offset to remove any rubbing on the inside, but then being so wide they may rub on the outside, on the guards, and may project beyond the guards. Maybe go for a 255 and make them work and show everyone it can be done! But patience and $$$ might be required. I bet many would think a 235/75R15 could not be fitted to the front, but i am doing it.

woah, are the 235/75's designed as 4WD tyres?
as per costing $$ to do so... ill be sticking with 245's

Other minor and moderate mods are required to prevent fouling. They project beyond the guards and rub them, so something will have to be done there. I think the EA stub axles are different, the upper balljoint may be in a slightly different location, i hope to try them soon, but i can make the EBII one's work anyway, so they aren't crucial. As long as you don't have to repaint the guards i reckon it's pretty cheap.

Last week i tried a larger wheel on an EA and the upper balljoint seemed in exactly the same position, which correlates with what you say. I also tried to try an EF but the car was too low to the ground to fully fit, but so far seemed if anything worse, so i gave up. It seems i will need to do my guards and respray, to fit the 235/75R15's.
