i was driving around the other night, pulled up and the car just died.

went to crank it over, but it was like it was arking out somewhere, all interior lights etc would dim out when i go to crank it.

got out clean up the battery terminals which were loose as all hell got back in..nothing. had to ring RAC to come jump start me.

but this worries me, the car should be running of the alternator when the engines on, and not the battery?

and tonight driving around i noticed my headlights were dim and my volt metre was just hugging above the 10volt line. but as soon as i pulled up and gave it some revs the lights went back to normal and the volt metre jumped up to 14-15volts.

any help please!!!

i have only played with x series alternators but on those the is a regulator that plugs into the back of the alternator which controls the voltage output of the alternator try replacing that
i don't know where it is on e series but thats where it was on the x
