First my Apologies to the Forum Staff & Moderators, I have read the rules regarding the sale section, unfortunately I'm getting quite desperate.

I keep killing Car Batteries out of inactivity as I only travel 3 to 4 thousands Kilometers on average per year, I recently bought a Solar Panel to keep the battery charged during non use periods, which plugs into the cigarette lighter socket & trickle charges the Batt.

I'll be mounting a new Cigarette lighter socket into the center console section, So I'm looking for another center console section in case I stuff the one I have, just a plain old GLi section is all I need, so if anyone has converted theirs to the electric window switch version & actually kept the old bit I'd be happy to relieve you of the item.

cheers

I'll try to have a look tonight as i should have one in the shed.

Have you considered hardwiring it behind the dash, maybe even coming out the map pocket, as thats what I did with my phone charger, also maybe just take the positive lead off while not in use to cut back on the drain.

I've never been keen of the idea of shoving current back up a cigarette lighter into a big a** car battery, something about the concept is worrying if you have anything inline, eg bem etc.
but that me, I'm probably just paranoid.

That's the Map Pocket in the Driver's Door?
It's GLi, doesn't have one.

I figure the console section is probably the easiest & most unobtrusive place to have it & keeping my original console section in an Original state is preferred, although I don't know why I bother as by the time I'm ready to upgrade the EF won't be worth a f@rt! :(

I share your concerns, However I have a Car Alarms I'd like to keep active, that's the reason for trying to get the solar panel in.

I figure running the cigarette lighter on it's own circuit (fuse included) & bypassing the entire electrical system may do the trick?

You may have noticed, I'm not an auto electrician, don't know an amp, from a volt from a watt!

Hey look at that pretty sparky th.....oh s***!

Ah, I see, I may leave that console section under the radio for a Engine Hours gauge if I end up rebuilding this motor or a 289 or 302.

I like the idea of a 289 EFI, bit of balls without the fuel consumption of a 302.
