Well I have tried this, got 1 tail light done, and waiting for the silicone to cure.
It was a tedious job getting the lense off, I ended up using a modifyed soldering iron with the tip ground flat like a knife. While this did the job quickly, the part of the lense that wraps around to the side quarter panels provided some resistance, so the result was to bring out the dremel and cut on the inside of the seal. I took both the red and amber filters out as I am using red LED replacement stop/tail and ornage torn bulbs I will post some pics when I do the second one as this will be a neeter job |

i found this plcae that made them up for the indicators. they cost me 95 for the front and back ones plus a different flasher module to cope with the low voltages produced by the leds
f**k the are bright at night

are they a replacement for a normal globe ie: will fit the standard socket or are they a different fitting all together.
I got my tail lights from led shop online, and they also do the indicators aswell. can you post some piccies for us *****Pics in my gallery***** |

Hi Guys,
If your going to go to the trouble of using LED's and backing boards (breadboard???) then you could go for a vertical indicator and brake light setup (more like the NA-NC Fairlane etc). Still keep the middle red reflector for legality but then you would have a square shaped brake light and only where it starts to wrap around to the sides would be the indicator You could have the whole thing looking clear until you used either the brake or indicator or use some coloured cellophane on tinfoil as a reflector to give it a subtle colour all the time, something different again i guess. Daniel PS. Love the hot knife idea. I used a grinder to test the theory of getting the coloured lenses out about 18months ago but couldnt come up with a workable solution (except hacking up two lights to get one good one per side, ie save backing on one by hacking lens, lens on the other bay hacking backing) |
