Check injectors as someone suggested...if you can, replace the cat with a working one and see if it makes a difference.

Well, finally fixed.

Had the cat replaced as partially blocked then checked everything.

Had cap slung beside dizzy and as I turned motor over with socket the bugger slipped back and rotor button broke central contact off! Ouch!!!

After this stuff up I pulled dizzy and checked it thoroughly.

I found vane rubbing on sensor and metel filings all through dizzy and every screw (including TFI ones loose).

I turned dizzy upside down to look for carbon contact and out fell a grub screw. It was one of the three that attach vane to shaft.

Bought another dizzy in and bob's your aunty.

MORAL. 1 Don't think that because the part is new that it is in usable condition. Check everything as if it came from the sleeziest seller it could have.

BTW. I bought the original dizzy from a respected reseller and believe that this dizzy came like it was from the factory.

Thanks to all who answered, I learned something and the comments helped to reinforce that I was doing the right things.
