Hey guys we're going to be (hopefully) chucking the manual in my ED falcon tomorrow.
The thing that's stopping us is this: Normal floorshift (my xr6 wreck). Dash is towards the right of photo. The same area in my column shift. Dash is towards the LEFT of photo. There's no hole/console mount thing there. I've heard of people doing it before though. How do we do it? Do we have to grind a hole? I won't need an engineers or anything will I? Thanks. |

Ah so you went through it and passed? how much would something in my case cost to inspect/hopefully pass?
I was just outside analysing it in both cars. The standard floorshift in the XR has the mounting cover around 2 inches higher. Besides that rubber cover that blocks sound out of the hole the rest bolts to the console. I was worried about the shifter being too high but with the console in it should look identical to any floor shift car. How hard is it fitting the console since I don't have the mounts? |

it is too close for me to see and make judgemen and offer advice.... honestly do you see ford changeing tunnels and alike to suit the few column shift autos
zoom out a bit... and we will see. alternatly make a templet out of ya wreck and transfer and get the ye olde grinder out and you will be laughing and honestly i doubt that you would need a engeering certificate if there is no sign of a column shifter was there...

Sorry that took so long, couldn't find my keys haha.
The reason for the bad pic was the carpet needs to be held apart or you can't see anything. So this time I improvised with a water bottle. That stripe is due to me getting a flat head screwdriver and ripping up that crap material stuff. I found no plate under it or anything. I think that's exactly what ford did, for a start I'm missing that whole mounting thing on the tunnel. |

Hey mate,
I would mark out exactly where the hole is in the donor car into your car, then carefully cut it out. As for the bracket, mine didn't have the right bracket when i did my EF conversion, so i just made a new one and screwed it to the floor. Andrew.

Hey guys.
Just wondering how to get the auto linkages of the column shaft? Gregory's says disconnect (great help that is). I looked at the column/linkage union and it looks as though it's fixed on and pop rivited. How do I remove it? |

my mate just bought an XF panelvan that used to be column shift auto and is now 5-speed, hooked up to an EB 3.9 motor, looking under the carpet it seems that they just cut the entire transmission tunnel out of the EB and welded it into the XF floorpan.
maybe thats another option if you cant think of anything else.
