Hey, I asked this question in another topic but did'nt receive any replies so here is my question. . . Can I machine normal brakes so that they are slotted and/or drilled? Or is that just a stupid idea?

you can buy DBA brakes as described from repco for marginally more then a new set of standard brakes. and unless you have all the work professionally done, it can lead to failure, vibrations...would imagine there'd be insurance implications in the event of an accident maybe??

one would assume things like balencing would be hard, also on a legal side do the slots have to not go deeper than the "min thickness" of the rotor etc.
tbh idd just buy a set of dba's and not stress about it all, |

wouldnt even think about it.
insurance will drop you if you have an accident, pigs will string you if they defect it and the likely hood you'll irriversably damage the surface with microcracks is very high. the sites sponsors do VERY good deals on new rotors and lines, check it out

The machining costs would be far greater than the purchase price of new slotted rotors.

I went DBA's from new - drive them in all conditions so I have time to sweat the small stuff like thermo install h-ha
