My old girl drives brilliantly except for the occassional clunk when down shifting from 2nd to 1st, when coming to a stop. Gear box has been serived regulary and is not yet due its next service.

Any sujestions.

If its the borgwarner 35 check the kickdown cable, if its a C4 you can adjust the vacuum modulator via a vacuum screw inside the vacuum port. Just remove the vacuum line from the modulator at the rear of the box and scew it all the way in, then wind it out about 3 full turns. To adjust the kickdown if its a BW35, disconnect it from the carby, and eyeball the linkage in relation to the carby butterfly plate. It needs to be about level, if not 5mm below. If you mash it at 40ks in `D`it should pull back to first. Bewdy
