Hey guys,
not sure if this is the right area for this thread but it seemed the most suitable. Im looking at getting either an BA XR6 turbo or XR8. If i get an xr8 i would get a manual, but in the turbo i would want a manual but i have heard that they are much better in auto form. Are the manuals that bad and do they hold up ok? what about the xr8? I no in the BF's (??) they changed to a 6 speed tremec which would be awesome but is abit out of my price range. Is the 5 speeds in the BA a T5 or Tremec? any help an experiences appreciated cheers

in the ba range the auto's are better imo!
They can be strengthened up! Seen people with the 5 speed manual and once u start feeding some power through them the manual doesn't hold up! As ya said before shame u aint got the extra $$$ for a bf! |

The T56's came out in the BA Mk II. Early V8 manuals came with a Tremec TR3650 and early turbo's had the T5Z from memory.
The T56 is by no means a bad box. If you want a N/A Boss then get a 6 speed manual, the 5 speed is a dog of a box. In a turbo it really comes to personal preference. I think the main reason people go for the auto's is that they hold boost through gear changes so it makes it a bit quicker, not sure how the T5Z holds up to power though so and auto might be the pick over the 5 speed. But in saying that my mate has a T56 in his turbo and he loves it, so just go with which one you like driving better. |
