I've tried searching but couldn't find exactly what i was looking for, my problem is my oil pressure gauge is always reading max and it only reads lower when its almost empty, its all factory fitment and nothing has been fiddled with, i was wandering if there is a sensor or something that might be dirty/stuffed and where it would be located in the engine bay.

what model?
Usually its the Oil sender, EF/EL ones are notorious for failure. A bad connection is a common problem and the simple lack of earths is another.

I don't know if it helps but i know with my EB if ive been working on it and accedentally knocked the plug off the oil sender the gauge will read max. The sensor is on the passenger side of the engine screwed into the block under the inlet manifold between the number 3 & 4 cylinders.
A prick to get to with the log manifold, not so bad with the bbm. If you don't know what your "feeling" for (you can't see it) put the car on stands and go from underneath.
