Its that time of year again folks, Pink slip time to be ripped off by the government and forced to pay a BS price for a greenslip i will never use. how ever i dont mind the pink slip, im used to just ringing up saying i need a pink slip and hey fix what ever needed then pass right? well no one can tell me for sure if it has to be done by a LPG mechanic or normal mechanic.

So Do i need to take my car to an LPG guy to get me a pink slip? if so is there any documentation from the RTA saying so?

I have not been told once since getting the car converted that it has to be taken to an LPG guy to get my pink slip.

dosent even say it on my rego papers.

as far as i thought only thing u had to get done specificaly by a lpg mechanic was the lpg system itself. aka install repairs etc.

Nope the pink slip has to be done by a LPG mechanic as there is a section on it they have to tick to say its been inspected.

pretty much anyone who does pink slips will have the qualification to do it though, the only time you really need to go to a LPG mechanic is when your tank is out of date and needs to be inspected. Otherwise the pink slip inspection just looks to make sure the tank is in date and so on.

If you don't know the car's full history, before you take it to the lpg mechanic check inside the tank's portal for a retest tag, look and feel thoroughly, even use a mirror if you have to. I wonder if some mechanics to make extra money are getting tanks tested when they don't have to. I don't mean to cast an aspersion, it's just good to know rather than be in the dark.
