wacking in a new gearbox into my fairmont i6 thinking a au gearbox would be the best for the change what do u guys think from what i understand a au box will fit aslong as i use my ef bell housing..... or is there there a gearbox out there and would suit it better

It should be ffine, providing that you use the EF bellhousing. My dad's AU has an EF1 Auto box in there, complete with the dipstick. The gearbox was in my EF before I converted it to manual. It has been in there ffor almost 2 years, without any problems

If you source a later model au auto you will need to install your EF cutout switch.
Also, i think you need to get the au torque converter, i don't think the EF one can be used on an au box.

sounds good to me is the au box stronger and smoother then the ef

From what i've heard so far the au box is smoother but has a smaller oil pump.
