Do they fit in the standard hole in the door without modification as i heard that the magnet was too large and things had to be altered

what size you looking at..? iv got the 5 1.4" but they also come in 6.5"... i havent had any prob fitting them in my au...

i got 6.5 r type splits in a ef fairmont all i did was cut the hole a little bigger and put 4 3mm nuts behind the speaker then screwed it up and it fine miss the window and the door cover

Thanks for that yeh i got the 6 an a half ones an was worried that the magnet would hit the channel for the window.

Have em in the EF XR - 6.5"s fit fine however you will need to use a spacer (only a couple mm thick required) or a couple nuts as noted above...
Depending on the thickness of the spacer etc you may need to cut into the factory hole due to the wider supports on the rear of the driver. Be careful not to go to wide as the speaker when pushed hard as the cone is exerted fully the outer black rubber ring will rub/touch the rear of the grill (if u look on the back of the grill it can protude a fair whack and needs to be rubbed back at the joins) - this will prevent puncturing.
