Should cost about $60 all up per uni joint replaced, most mechanics should be able to do the job.

steel shaft uni number is ruj2038 ( we call them a 2387-e)
should be looking at about 20 bucks for the good ones or 12 for the crappy ones most bearing supplyers should have them |

a bit of "play" when you turn the shaft or a little grinding as well

A slight clunk when accelerating and decelerating, a low frequency hum and vibration at around 80km/h from the rear (worse as you decelerate) black dust around the UJ bearing sealsand noticable play in the joint.
Its worth getting the more expensive UJ's as they are the only things holding a tube that spins at around 3200rpm and take up to 500nm of torque when accelerating. |

yeah i wouldn't fit the chinese one ever but if you got to a industrial bearig supplier with the part numbers above you can get some good U.S.A branded stuff for around the 20-35 dollar mark

The original SPICER are american. Ford have been using them for almost 20 years.

I have replaced quite a few, usually about $30-35 for the new part.

not hard to replace, its normally the rear that goes first. all you need are 2 sockets (1slightly larger and 1 slightly smaller than the UJ bearing) a vice, pair of pointy nose pliers (to remove snap rings) just remember to copy the yellow dots on both ends of the shaft onto the diff flange and the output spline on the transmission. after the UJ is fitter rap the bearings with a couple of taps with a mallet to seat the bearings in.
