G,day all.
New here :) and was wanting to find out some info hopefully from peoples that are or have run this set up.
I am currently building a 2 litre pinto engine for my escort. The car will not be registered, and used for cheap drag racing events only. The engine is going to be Turboed and EFI. My question is- what would be the best computer package (system) to run this engine. And what prices for any recommended systems. I know the questions are a bit non descript- but i am starting from scratch, so would like suggestions from persons who have run this combo before.
Cheers in advance.

How much are you willing to spend and what features do you want?

The cost at this stage is not really an issue. I am looking for an ecu that will run the injection and is quite east to tune (for a tuner).

Do you want to control fuel and spark or just fuel? Look at either Link, Autronic or EMS for a good affordable ECU or Motec for top of the line uber tuneable s**t

Hey buddy, i'd recommend all the microtech gear. we've got a V8 drag car escort running it and it may not be the cheapest but it is definatly the best. If your in Sydney, i'd give Mark Heysmand a call from Injection Perfection. He's the guru with all that sorta stuff.
Good luck mate and hope to see sum pictures,

IMO, find a tuner first and use an ECU that they are willing to work with

It depends on the sensors of your injection and ignition setup.

What sort of ignition do you want? Individual coil per spark plug?

Most ECUs will run sequential injection and ignition for 4 cylinder configurations, so that is less of a hassle.

Do you want boost control? Drag style antilag?

Lastly, and most importantly, do you want closed loop (lambda control), which you need if you want it to be legal?

Are you running late model DOHC gear? Aftermarket, ie weber-style thottle body or single throttle body?

The less featured ECUs will go for about $1000 plus add ons (MAP sensor, boost control, 02 sensor, etc) and tuning. Mid-range and good value for money ECUs for around 1600-1800 plus tuning. Top of the range for 3000 plus, ie MoTeC, and again tuning and accessories.

Also before I forget, issue 39 of Street Fords featured Mark Freeman's turbo'd DOHC RS2000 MK2 Escort making 242rwkw. It was managed by an Autronic SMC ECU and 500R CDI ignition system.
