Hi All, Wondering if anyone knows exactly where oil pressure should show. I understand in hot days oil is thinner giving you a lower reading, but today at 100kmh the pressure was really low and warning light came on. Oil level appears OK so i am not sure if pump is dying or im am i missing something else. No abnormal engine noise. Loses some pressure on flat to floor acceleration. Car is duel fuel and does same on either fuel. I tried to search it but its too hard for the crappy new search engine. Any ideas?

i think the oil pressure sender on EF/L is a bit dodgy from factory... mine has a new oil pump and a full sump of 20w50, and on hot days it does the same once the motors hot. once at the traffic lights it was just on the top of the red on the low side, light went green and i took off and by the time i was at the other end of the intersection it was reading almost 7 then backed off and it went back to about the middle.

Maybe its just the extreme heat thinning the oil and dodgy sender. I did already put a new one on a couple of years ago. The warning light used to come on at idle with AC on in hot weather but never while driving at 100 revs where low. Im going to put a thicker grade of oil in to see if it makes any difference. Im using magnatec at the moment. It still runs fine so im hoping its all good.

Slap another earth strap on it.
ie: Factory: Batt to recovery frame. Batt to engine block. AU's slapped another joiner from the block to the K-frame. This can be utilized and added to your current existing wannabe earth factory setup. The more the merrier with earthing. I've found the battery charges better and the gauges/lights are better with this slight increase of earth.

I've got the same/similer problem, except my car's an ED... should the same be done even though it's a different car???

I've always installed larger/better earthing on all my cars.
It cost's nothing, and does help. especially those running 0 gauge amp positives and running a fat neg to the body. the weakest link is the earthing to the alt/battery. follow it back, they're pissy.

The ED's earth goes from the block to the chassis, then to the battery, and is a decent guage. Whereas on the EL it goes from the block to the battery, and then there is a pissy wire from there to the coolant reservoir panel which is the earth. So the EL is much more in need of attention. Although the EL has a bigger alternator and alternator wire.
