Hi guys

Now call me stupid but i have a ba motor and i decided to put it onto this crappy old ed manual wagon. i've heard of this being done before but im unsure how hard it is and i thought i'd keep u all posted on the progress.

the motor is in i just have to move the front cross member so the motor doesn't hit it and then connect everything up.

my biggest problem will be the wiring. i have mismatched parts from different wreckers around the place so i dunno if it'll work. for example i dont know if my my engine is a ba or bf. the computer is from a differnt car and im also unsure if it is ba or bf. do they need to match?? i need to get my hands on a wiring diagram so i know what wires i can delete and what ones a can match up. i also need an engine bay loom for a manual. preferably without abs.... can anyone help out there? i've tryed wreckers but none seem to be interseted in giving me one.

Any advice would be much appreciated, not just on wiring but on drivline and other forseeable issues etc aswell.

Thanks,

Dane

Well,

You have certainly jumped in the deep end.

I think you would have been wise to do some research first.

Bolting the Barra Engine in has never been the problem. Getting it to run, and then be livable as a daily driver is the hard part.

Due to the nature of the adjustable cam timing, there is very few, if any options to use an aftermarket ECU. The few conversions we are aware of here at Fordmods, they have used the Factory BA/BF ECU and custome wired, and flashed/edited the ECU with specialised equipment to enable the engine to run as per factory.

I would encourage you to read this thread

http://www.fordmods.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=69035

And then contact the workshop who did the work for futher information.

Good Luck.

I personally hope you can find a way to get it running successfully, and on the cheap, as I too would like to do this conversion one day.

Cheers
BenJ

If you going to do all thr work urself then u will save alot on labour costs.

There is another forum member who has done this conversion to his falcon and which this thread has alot of information.

Its definatly not a cheap exercise but that always comes when u want to be different :D
