i have a ef 6 that i put a ea t5 in and now am stuck as to what diff ratio to use???
the ea being the 3.9 the gear box has different ratio in all gears, at the moment i hav the standard ef auto diff of 3.08 which gives me about 2600rpm at 110km/h i hav a 2.92lsd which came out of a V8 but am told i should get a 3.45 out of a ef/el XR6 but i just dont know what to get?? maybe someone has done it already and can lend some info i am lookin for around 2000rpm at 100km/h just for highway use but if anyone can put a good point across i open to change my mind |

something dosent sound right there.
my mate has an XF box in his EF XR6, with the 3.45 LSD, and it sits on about 2,600rpm at 110kmh. 3.08 ratio should be about 2000rpm at 100 IIRC. My old 2.92 diff EA sat on 1900rpm at 100kmh.

BTR auto and 3.08 (stock base model EL ratio) diff is well below 2000rpm at 100km/h. I think It was around 1850 from memory.
The Xf-EB1 t5's have slightly shorter 1st, 2nd and 5th ratios to the eb2 onwards model. I think from memory It is around 0.68 for a 4 speed BTR in 4th gear, and 0.72 for the later model t5's, and shorter again for the box you will be using, although this is from memory and they could be different. I think a 3.23/3.27 ratio will get you around 2000rpm at 100km/h with an EA t5.

seeing as youve got an EA 5speed, i can tell you this.
EA T5 + 3.45 LSD = 2700rpm @110kph (and speedo is bang on), and even with all the mods i get 9>10L/100 for fuel on highway. if your getting 2600rpm idd be looking again at your "3.08", as with my old ss 3.08 didnt spin that high on the highway, from mem it was around 2200. one thing to note, 1st is lightnig quick with that setup, and youll never use first other than for getting off the line, i wouldnt suggest grabing it while on the move. |

so my 2.92 lsd be no good? that would make it around 1900 at 100km/h?
may gearbox ratios are: 1st 3.50:1 2nd 2.14:1 3rd 1.39:1 4th 1.00:1 5th 0.78:1 Rev 3.39:1 |

Gidday.
I have an EA box behind my EL engine and the diff is an LSD 3.23. At 100 it sits on 2200rpm and at 130 it sits on 2700rpm. If you do the math, 3.23/3.27 gears and an EA T5 are approx the same as using a EB11> box with 3.45 gears. BenJ

Yes, i was thinking the speedo readings probably aren't right.
I think the EA 3spd auto had a 2.77 diff, not sure about the 5spd. So the speedo could be a long way out.

if your refering to the 2700rpm@110, my speedo is accurate, it has the largest speedo cog in it (from memory the black one) and its proven on dyno runs.
