I'm thinking of upgrading the headlight globes in my NF Fairlane to a higher wattage...has anyone had experience with this as I'm worried that the heat of say 90/110w or whatever the watts are might melt the plastic lenses and reflectors. Also will the wiring handle the higher wattage or should I fit relays? Any advice would be appreciated.

you will definatley need to use relays. For the lense i've been told that it would melt being the plastic it is which is crap because I want to run brighter lights also, would be nice if a glass lense was available.

Yeah ok I understand about the relays. I do have some Narva plus 50s in there at the moment. On high beam they're better but on low they are still pretty average. But bakc to the polycarbonate lenses...I was just thinking it would be better to get the 90/130watt ones or whatever...but if the lenses will melt there's not much point I guess. It would be interesting to know if anyone has actually put higher power globes in successfully without melting the lenses?

You may have a little success using the + Series globes.

You could also try quality UV-cut globes - that will help the lenses hang on for alittle while.

Besides - how much is a replacement set anyway!

... finally - you could get twinlights - they use glass reflectors
