My question for the turbo guru's out there is, would a bigger turbo say gt45 on 10psi be less prone to detonation then say a gt35r or similar?

It is all in the tune, would not matter what size the turbo is.

bigger compressor will heat up the air less
bigger turbine will create less back pressure

Wouldn't the only difference be just the spooling up time.. Ie smaller comes on boost earlier but doesn't have as much pull in top end and larger takes longer to spool up but comes on boost hard

Boost coming on too hard at low rpm can cause engine issues..
Depends on how small ?? and big ?? Herd something like this before ?? I guess its the way its used..

i have a t51 on mine which is about the same size as a gt4202 and are both good for 1000hp im told. i was also told it should make power from 3 grand (i wish) the power starts at about 5 and the rev limiter is at 6500 its fair crap for road use. i had a t4 on my last ef it squirted fairly hard but didnt rev much past 4 grand. the best combo i found was the 35/45 it had about as much lag as the t4 but makes bucket loads more power. i am concidering going back to one.

Yes A.R can too..
I mean the trim of wheel.. On my T3/4's I went from 67 trim to 78 and rpm spool increased 800 rpm.. The turbine is the same.. Here is an example T3 / T3/4 comparo The wheel trim on left turbo is greater..
