Hey Guys,
I'm after someone who has taken the heater core out of an EF falcon before. I've got the Gregories manual and followed it. I've gotten the dash out of the way and unplugged all the looms (I can see) from the heater assembly. I've also taken out the 5 nuts from the firewall as per the manual and the 2 pipes into the heater core. The problem is now the heater assembly is loose but if won't come away from the firewall. It feels as though there is something else holding it in. Have I missed something? The manual says it should just come away now. Please let me know if there is something that I haven't done. I would like to get this project done this weekend. Thank you for your help. -Warren

We took one out years ago and i remember it beeing a pain. The rubber grommets in the fire wall did hold it inplace so it took a bit of jimmying to get it out. Sorry i am a bit fuzzy because it was about 6-7 year ago. i know we dd originally forget about a screw that was on the top fo it too that was holding it in. Good Luck

You didn't mention undoing the A/C connections, or vacuum lines????

I didn't see any screws on top except for the ones holding the vents in for the windscreen blower.
Don't tell me the AC lines have to come off? It doesn't seem to be stuck in that area (far lefthand side) I only saw the one vacum line going in but that doesn't seem to be holding it back... I can wiggle the unit side to side, it feels stuck around the heater core section but I can't seem to find anything that would be holding it in.

AC Core and heater core are both inside the air box mate.
Decommission the AC, take the TX valve off and the heater hoses and she should pull out as easy as pie!!

philaddis & cjh, you were both spot on. Disconnected the AC and it came out no worries...well I had to take the passenger and drivers vents off.
Thanks heaps to the manual for not pointing out that part of the process. Now i have it out and I can see the problem, I need to put it all back together now. When I took the two parts of the airbox apart it was siliconed together at the bottom. Do I need to redo this? Would gasket goo be fine to use or is there something else I should be using? Cheers again.

just wondering, was there any movement with the heater box before removing the aircon lines? cause i wanna do a climate conversion and im wondering if the heater box moves enough to get the blend door motor in without draining the air con line? thanks.

No movement at all. You might be able to bend it out a little but not enough to get any useful space to get tools behind.

You don't have to disconnect any AC stuff to add the climate gear in at all. Try talking to BenJ or PIMP LTD. Been covered before, of course the search function atm is useless.

If you have soundproofing above the heaterbox, e.g. futura or XR6, it can be an annoyance getting the blend door motor in - but it is doable.
