Can anyone please advise where to check the auto fluid level

There seems to be no dipstick.......

Ford hasn't had a dipstick for the autos since 2/1996. Under the car on the drivers side, at the rear RHS of the auto is a 16mm bolt. That is where you check the level.
The car must be level and the tranny cold when checking. Use Castrol TQ95 auto fliud or similar spec.

There is obviously a "O" ring stopping the fluid level from leaking out when pulling the bolt out...?

is there a sump so i can be drained......

Yeh, there is an O'ring thats on the bung, but there is no drain. Couple of ways to do it, 1st, jut drop the pan, or 2nd if you have the tooling, remove top cooler pipe, screw in adaptor pipe with hose running into a 20lt container, and start engine, run till bubbles appear, then drop off the pan ( has a lot less oil in it then.

How does it appear to be level is their a guide or ...????

Transmission fluid level adjustment

WARNING: Do not touch a hot exhaust pipe
With your hands or allow transmission fluid to
Contact the exhaust pipe.
NOTE: The transmission is sealed from the factory, oil
Level and oil condition checks should only be required
When fluid leakage from the transmission or reduced
Transmission performance has occurred.
To determine the correct fluid level, proceed as
Follows:

1. Place the transmission selector in ‘PARK’ -
Engine switched OFF.

2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist or place on a service pit

3. The transmission sump should be warm to touch (this indicates that the transmission is at the correct temperature for checking oil level).

If the vehicle is at operating temperature-allow the vehicle to cool down for two, but no greater then four hours (while hot, the ATF level is higher and removing the filler plug may result in oil being expelled from the filler hole, this will result in low ATF level).

If the engine is cold - the vehicle should be driven between 3.5 and 4.5 kilometers at light throttle so engine does not exceed 2500RPM.

4. Clean all dirt from around the service plug prior to removing. Allow approx. 3 minutes for
Transmission oil drains back. Remove the filler plug and check the O-ring for damage (replace as necessary).

5. The correct fluid level is reached when the ATF is level with the bottom of the filler hole, if the level is low install the filler pump and add oil to the correct level. When the level is correct, refit and tightens the filler plug to 30 - 35 Nm.
