I've been advised by another member that the EF/EL V8 and I6 engine mounts are the same. I'm assuming that there would be some sort of adaptor block required for either the 6 or 8.

Can anyone 100% confirm this? I just want to be sure before I spend the money. The cheapest V8 mounts I can get are $160 each, but if the I6 ones will do the trick and are cheaper, then it's a bonus. :)

Are they both hydraulic mounts in the EF/EL series?

Thanks, Mike

They are not the same. Very similar to the old Clevo mounts but not quite the same there either.

4.0L mounts are the same hydraulic construction as 5.0 but the mounting portion is different.
You must be thinking of some other mount cjh they are nothing like early small block mounts.

I was meaning the bolt pattern of where it attaches to the block, that style of the upper steel part of the mount.

All smallblocks have the same bolt pattern on the block.

I was trying to determine whether the actual hydraulic mount was the same, but had different adaptors bolted to it to mount either the 6 or 8.

Lots of opinions, but it still isn't really clear. Just trying to avoid spending $300 on V8 mount when the I6 ones are the same and get caught out. I almost did that with my TFI module: the (half as expensive) I6 one runs my Windsor quite happily! 8-)

Cheers, Mike

It wasn't my opinion...it's what i found when looking at both types of mounts.

I have replaced my engine mounts twice now in my EL XR8. The first time I used some after market ones because they were like $100 bucks cheaper each. But they lasted about 2 weeks before they fell too pieces! Ended up buying genuine ones from ford and haven't had a drama since. Though unfortunately they are quite expensive. In my experience I would just get them as it may save you another failure down the track!
