I have an NC V8 fairlane with factory 5.0 Auto.

The car is in really good nick, engine and diff are tight, auto shifts well (although on occassion can be a little slow to drop into reverse but nothing bad)

Today I had my exhuast done (extractors, high flows and a twin 2.25 down each side of the gear box)

i picked it up adn all was well. i drove it around for a while (car was running a little hotter than usual although i was driving it more firmly than normal)

after stopping somewhere i drove forward out of the park spot and into reverse and nothing....

the car will not reverse (the reverse lights are on) and the car actually seems to want to inch forward when in reverse.

i also noticed that when in park its not reving as freely and more, still reving but not as happily....

the final thing is that in forward gears it drives great, all 4 gears work and are nice and smooth....

what has happened?

i need it to get to work so any ideas asap would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks in advance

i would definately be interested if neccessary but i have an update....

the electrical connectors on the passenger side looked really grotty. i cleaned them with turps and put it all back together and now it seems to work fine. i am wonderin if the connectors or inhibitor switch is faulty? and me moving it around has allowed it to staret working again?

i just drive the car and it seems ok now? given that it is now ok even if the fault still remains it must be electrical (like an intermitant switch) otherwise it wouldnt have come good again?

thoughts?
