i was thinking about running my EBII on PULP but im not sure about the improvements. i know from the EF onwards that PULP is reccomended but how would it go in an EBII 4.0L stock falcon (except 2.5" redback zorst)? please if any EA-ED owners use PULP please let me know your thoughts thanks -Daniel

There are 2 main advantages in running PULP in any car. Firstly it is generally cleaner and better quality petrol. THe second is that the extra octane does allow you to run more timing, but this is something you have to tune for. If you plan to run PULP all the time and want the best from it, set the base timing 4 or so degrees more advanced.

Yeah I have always run it in my car but now I have to (that comes with a supercharger). Personally I would run it in any decent car I own, not purely for performance, but the better fuel should mean a better maintained fuel system and less overall wear on the engine.

I know a few people that are running their EDs on BP ultimate. To make the most of it they've advanced their timing up to about 12 degrees (tested with timing light). You get a bit of a boost from the power. One of the guys took off .5 of a sec off his 1/4 time.
Also what he said, better for your engine.

yeah i use Mobil Syn 8000 (98 RON PULP) in my car, i find, it's a cleaner fuel, you get more KM's out of a tank and better performance.
i've been using it in my EB V8 ever since i got it, i used ULP once or twice, but found PULP was alot lot better, i always run it now, i know mines a V8, but same with any car really, PULP will be better for the car overall and it's worth the money IMHO.

yer the EF onwards ECU had knock control i think, thats why with an EA-ED you have to advance the timing

Usually run PULP when i go on long trips, seems to chew through the juice the same around town no matter whats in the tank.. on the open road however, i get at least 10% better economy, and very rarely is PULP more than 10% more expensive then regular unleaded. Plus it runs far better.

Well considering the price of PULP has risen quite a bit its nearly not worth using it unless your not concerned abut the whole $'s per litre thing.
But yes it will be better for your car if you run it on PULP, however if it carries on like a b**ch (pinging) then you might want to get it tuned first. BP Ultimate 98 is the go thou

BP Ultimate 98 is the go thou Surprisingly when I drove over to WA PULP was only 2cpl more than regular unleaded on the nullabour. At that price it was worth it for the extra k's per tank. Makes you wonder why it is so much dearer in the cities.

OK, well lest's assume PULP (98 ron) is 8c more per litre than regular....
20 litres, an extra $1.60 40 litres, an extra $3.20 So i wouldnt be too concerned about the price. For similar reasons to EDXR8 i'm bound to high octane fuel, but even with a stocker i think a fuel like bp ultimate is worth it... the extra detergents are great for keeping carbon deposits down and with an extra deg or 2 timing, should be getting better economy/more power.

ive used PULP in my stock EL I6 since ive owned it and theres no way for the saving of ~6c/litre (no BP Ultimate/Optimax down here, just standard Mobil Premium) even if you do a decent fill (50lt) thats $3 difference. im quite prepared to pay the extra $3 just for the cleaner fuel, let alone the higher octane. think about how often you waste $3 on other things.

I run my EB S XR8 only on PULP, found it had problems running on ULP by error when my wife filled it up a couple of times
I get (approx) 2-3 MPG more on PULP, and more power Ian
