I was wondering if it was standard to have an LSD in the EB II Fairmont Ghia's. I have one as a parts car and was under the impression it hadand LSD, if it wasnt standard how can i tell if its an LSD without obviously taking it apart ... is there a marking on the housing or something ?

cheers

Hey,

There should be a "dog tag" with one end bolted to the left side of the diff housing.
You will be able to see it from the back of the car with out having to undo or move anything.
You may need a rag and something to clean the tag, theres good chance its fairly dirty, wipe it clean and see what it says.
Should have the diff ratio and wether or not its LSD.
Most xr6 lsd diffs have "high performance lsd" on the tag.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Mick

Jack the back of the car up & turn 1 wheel,If the wheel on the opposite side turns the same way at the same speed,it is a LSD. If the wheel on the opposite side remains stationary or turns in the opposite direction, it is an open centre diff.
