Not really.
They extension housing of the AU box is approx 50mm longer than the XF-EL T5, and with this the shifter is also shifted approx 50mm further back. So if you used a pre-AU T5, you would have to cut the floor for the shifter to poke through, and probably need monkey arms to reach 1st gear.

To my knowledge you can fit the au bellhousing to the ef gearbox and use the ef torque converter and depending on your model of au you may need to change over the reversing switch.

My Dad's AU1 runs the old box that came out of my EF. His had s**t itself, and my old one was still strong (it had only come out of my car because I converted it to manual). The only thing that we used was the AU bellhousing and torque converter. The EF Bellhousing will not fit (and we did not attempt to use the EF torque converter). No wiring mods needed. Has been in the car for over a year, and there is still no issues with it

I think i've heard that you need to use the au torque converter on the au box, you can't use an earlier torque converter on the au box.

Indeed, i have used an EBII torque converter on an au motor, so i know that works.
