does any know is it possible to mount a pioneer cd player in an el using the factory mounting brackets, coz the holes on the brackets dont match up with any of the holes on the head unit.

Yes it can be done. I found mounting my pioneer head unit that the holes near the facia will line up to ones on the head unit that make the h/u sit in a similar spot to the factory radio. You will need to mark and drill the second hole to suit the h/u to keep it stable, although mine doesnt have that it sits very still and stable, but mine get removed and played with often.

Yeah, except I found I had to modify mine to sit it in the right place, found it sat in nice and tight with 1 screw per side anyway.
