MY NC Fairlane has a strange heating up phenomenon..

At idle or driving without air condition never heats up to over a quarter..

But with air conditioning on, at idle it heats up a little.. Just a little over half...

When im driving it cools up to about 1/3 and doesnt get hot but only at idle it heats up more..

I tried lifting the revs at idle a little as it may spin the fan and water pump a little more but then the auto gearbox gets a little more of a thud when changing gear??

Even with higher idle it still heats up a little more..

Its not heating up to dangerous levels but just more than it normally runs..

Normal or is there a fix... obviously it runs the clutch fans and thermos would be better but dont really want to change it..

I would dare say that the clutch fan is on its way out. Im not sure exactly how you can diagnose this without trying to hold it with the engine running :P Perhaps someone can advise on this.

I would dare to say that if it only goes as high as halfway on the temp gauge then thats reasonably normal for a belt driven fan....correct me if I am wrong anyone. It could also be something to do with the fan/belt/water pump if its not normal behaviour for your car.
