The pitch or angle of the speaker cage will determine what thickness of spacer you need. BTW i didnt think it was illegal to enlarge speaker holes in doors as the inner door skin isn't structural. So a good jigsaw cutter with a metal blade will do the job. This also depends on how much door skin you have to play with.
Yeah I don't believe so, and hope not, also if it actually somehow became an issue you can always bolt off bolt on new doors, but I've never seen a roady guy check behind door trims.
only other issue with that is then it can't easily be returned to stock.
particularly if you want to keep the speakers you've put in when you sell it.

after further investigation i found that the window when fully down, about 10mm would sneak behind the stock speaker.

so wot ive dun is made the hole in the door bigger and must use a space inbetween the door panel ane the speaker. doesnt look stock but im sure a bit of grey paint over the spacer and speaker mesh to match the interior wont look so bad.

so i can now fit 6inch speakers in. so wot should i go for? 2, 3, 4 ways???

if your still looking for some good speakers, i happen to have a set of 6 inch splits sitting here spare. mtx ths602. cost me about $150 if i recall, can do you a good price if you want them.

more info on the speaker here

http://www.soundmaster.com.au/list.asp? ... ,2cm-2-way

the 2 larger speakers dont have the grill as they were installed behind the door skin, the 2 tweeters do have the grill. im also in perth so may be able to drop them off to you if need be.
