Does anyone have the wiring detail for cable between the head unit and the CD stacker for an EF fairmont. I have obtained a unit that I need to test but I can't find this detail anywhere.
Also I am in need for the CD cartridge if some one has one they don't want. T.I.A. Cheers TW.

In the case of at least the EF/ELs it conforms to Alpines M-BUS standard but uses a different, proprietary connector (most likely to keep people in the dark over its origins to lock them into buying their own overpriced rebadged gear). I did a bit of hunting and this is the closest I got to a pinout:
As for what wires go where on the Ford connector I couldn't even begin to speculate. All the audio docos I looked at seemed to put the stacker connector in the "too hard" basket...

One thing I did discover is that the connector at the Head end is the same one I was chasing for absolutely ages without any luck for my Fairmont cluster upgrade. Wish I had known that then. I think I might be able to work out the stacker end from LSD's info as the wiring is visible, the head end may be a problem as it is likely connected directly to the PCB. Cheers TW.

Adaptors are available that convert the Ford plug to the Alpine plug - I have one between my factory head unit and the Alpine stacker under my passenger seat - however it's probably not worth buying one for the sole reason of mapping it out with a multimeter...

I'm not sure what the connector adaptor is worth on its own. When I had the S634 fitted I was charged $450: $350 for the stacker, $50 for the adaptors and $50 for labour. However, I'm pretty sure I needed at least two adaptors: one to adapt the Ai-Net connector on the 634 to M-BUS and another to adapt the M-BUS connector to the Ford plug on the back of the H/U. I'd estimate 25 bucks for each - outrageous for what they are but considering I got the whole package much cheaper than I thought I would I'm not really complaining.

I got a "genuine" cable (from an FL Fairmont head unit to a genuine stacker) from the company in Melbourne that repairs them.
FMS audio 33 Woodlands Drive Braeside 03 95882755 They "normally" only deal with trade-but I went down there and the guy made one up for me for $50 delivered . There are 2 different types apparently-so you may have to give them the part# off the stacker (to get the correct plug) or they may give you the wiring specs. I still have the cable in my car but don't use it anymore as I have an MP3 head unit now. PM me if you want the cable and we can work out a price (assuming you have a genuine stacker????
