hey there ppl

got some heater issues with my 03 BA so i took it to fords on Friday and the guy look at the heater did some test on it and told me my heater shaft is broken :( and for a good laugh i ask how much is it going to cost to fix he said $600 and i then i ask how much is the heater shaft he thinks its $40-$50 he said its a big job the dash has to come out and all that crap

so i just wanted to know is it something i could do at home myself or will i be better off taking to my mechanic?
