The X-flow will work very hard if a good amount of $$$$ is put into them, and will have a very strong rpm range

they dont need to rev high because they have so much torque! i reckon if you spend 3g or under youll have a wicked engine... those xfs are pretty light too... |

The XF engines you see that rev out to 7 grand are what I would like to call bushmans speedway specials. City slickers can afford big dollar V8's so they don't need them. I'd be happy If mine could hang together at 6 grand.

It wouldn't take that much to get the old X-flow upto 7. They go out to 5 and a bit stock, without any trouble. So with a few engine mods, like tougher valve springs, high end roller cam, roller rockers, high flow oil pump, high flow intake, mid sized holly, they'd be able to hit 7, i'm not saying it would be good for it, but i'm sure you'd hit it.

To get a 250 X flow to hang together at 7000rpm and make decent power while its up there would take more effort than you think.
Full roller valve train Custom push rods Longer and stronger rods and matching pistons A radically ported head And that's just for starters. |
