I went for a Crow Cams 621371 with Crow double valve springs, timing chain and push rods. Went with Crane 1.6rr's as the cams specs are for 1.6 not 1.7. Idling at 800rpm it sounds good.

I have a 2040 on a basicly standard auto (wanted something tamer but got sent the wrong one). The motor only has headers and a hollywood system and standard 3.23 gears. It is very lumpy and rich at idle, but come 3000rpm it really takes off hard, has good low down torque and rolls on really well for big powerslides. It is a bit troublesome without a stall and a decent tune, for stalling in car parks.
It is an excellent daily driver as it still has bucket loads of low down torque and is very tractable, but absolutely screams to red line, and it sounds fkn awesome at idle! |

2040 is the E 303 cam...
Check the duration on E 303 to 2031? The 2031 should be more streetable, if you've got GTP, iron heads ?? The use of 1.6 rockers would still be o/k.. Even though its designed to run 1;72 ratio rockers.. Lower flowing heads require less lift and more duration ..

There is a formula floating around (that I cant find at the moment) with in puts of valve diameter and desired max torque rpm to give you the required lift for an ideal air speed though the valve.
As for duration, that really is a black art of experiance & trial and error.

Am using Compcam XE276HR - goes a treat.
Duration @ 0.050 is 224 in 230 ex / lift 0.544 in & ex / 112 LSA. Richie
