Hi Folks,

My bog standard EL was robbed recently, so I'm thinking about beefing up security.

I'm looking at some cheapo alarms on eBay for < $200 ... but not sure they're worth the hassle. Ideally I want something subtle that integrates with the factory key fobs.

More importantly, I dont want something thats motion based and going to get tripped off all the time.

Some mates suggested I just re-wire a bit and make a kill switch somewhere.. what do you think ?

get one of the ones that sends you a pager message....

no one gives a s**t about car alarms, think about it....last time you heard a car alarm going off near you, did you bother looking ? i bet like most people you simply thought "i wish that f'n thing would shutup"

plus the joy of the pager one is, you disable the siren....so it notifies you silently, so you can sneak up on the prick trying to break into your car

Cool, good tip.

I actually dont give a fig about the car so much, more about the stereo and stuff in the car.

Last time they flogged my stereo they spent 45mins getting out ... all on security camera of course.

There's no point spending a silly amount protecting it, if it gets flogged I'll just buy a new model. :)
