Ok well my dad has an fgxr8 and i thought i would ask on here
he wants to know how to keep the semi active muffler (SAM) open instead of it opening up when at a sertin rpm Its bog stock but it needs a bt of grunt he would rather try this option over then getting a new exhaust first cheers

I'm curious, why would opening the semi-active muffler early make a difference to performance? Or are you just after the extra noise when cruising around?
If it's for performance, it's not like the exhaust has to flow copious quantities at low rpm, just scavenge properly (which is determined by the header design), and good low-down grunt is something the FG XR8 already seems to have (comparing manual BFII GT 290 to a manual FG XR8). I know too much grunt is never nearly enough, but I'd be looking at a flash tune instead of fiddling with the semi-active muffler.

Hey mate. If you're after grunt then full exhaust, CAI, under drives and tune will be needed to get the most out of it. Having the SAM open all the time wont make any difference in performance, either will putting a cats back as most of the power is made from good extractors. If you just want noise then throw a cat back on it.

Get in contact with XForce and see if they have a catback system for the FG XR8 yet
Lol i know it would be expensive but if i had an FG XR8 i would want it to sound similar to this one on the BF GT, ever since i saw this i was hooked on it {DESCRIPTION} But if you want a cheaper way, you could start taking mufflers out and replacing with straight pipes. Or swap the mufflers for a couple of Flowmaster or Hooker mufflers |
