Will be replacing the rest of the hoses on the EL fairmont on the weekend. So every hose on the car will be under 2yrs old. Just a quick question about the quick-release plastic connector on the heater hose. It should just unclip similar to the quick release connectors on the fuel pump pipes???
Ford Prices: 3/8in heater hose(air bleed hoses) $3 per metre------------got 3metres Radiator Filler Tube Hose $20 Heater Hose(water pump wrap around engine pipe-heater core) $44 RIP OFF...................

As far as I know, you just push the clip down and the hosing should come off...in my case it was pretty much stuck on, so I had to cut it out.

Good luck getting the plastic bit off. After paying over $40 bucks for the bit your talking about, I was frustrated to find the metal pipe was rusted and the plastic quick release wouldn't. I ended up putting the car on my mates car hoist and using a hacksaw blade to cut down either side. Once removed, the metal pipe had a lot of surface corrosion which I cleaned with some wet and dry. In the end I couldn't get the bloody thing to slide on (plastic bit)so I cut the rubber part of the pipe and fitted a section of it over the metal pipe with 2 hose clamps. I have lpg and a tee connection at the bottom of the 180 degree bend (where the hose clamp is on your picture). I only wanted to replace a part of it so thats why I butchered it. In your picture I ended up using the end at the bottom of your picture up to the white label. I cut just above the white label and lubed the pipe with some plastic grease. Slipped her up and clamped at both ends. Looked at replacing the metal pipe but it goes all the way to the other side of the engine.
The main problem is that the white plastic part has an oring so the metal pipe has to be close to original diameter to slid it on. Corrosion ensures that this isn't the case. I was really annoyed that I butchered a $40+ dollar pipe but in the end it did the job. I hope your metal pipe is in better condition than mine. Good luck. PS Disconnect your battery terminal as the starter is in the area. Hacksaw blade + starter = Zap zap.

Why buy genuine?
im sure i've seen heater pipes etc for falcons at repco for half the price!

Hoses all replaced, sprayed the quick-release pipe with CRC and with a bit off force it unclipped. No signs of any corrosion on coolant pipe . Looks like car has had regular coolant changes before I became the 2nd owner.\
