Gday all
my old weber just ant up to it anymore i think its more to do with all the emission control crap! but anyway i have a xf 250 crossflow with EST (electronic spark timing) weber 34 ADM, which would be a better carby for the 250? and what is needed to get it to run due to the EST and emission crap! thanks!!

You could try an older XF dizzy ( Non EST )or XD/XE dizzy, and use the 350 Holley on a Redline manifold.

g'day hillbilly,
i had the same problems with my old XF, carby was the main problem, (went thru 3 webbers) and as cjh responded, i did just that, (about 2 yrs ago) changed the dizzy to an XD-XE electronic with vacuum advance, changed the inlet manifold to a REDLINE & fitted a 350 (could prob have gone for a 500 & jetted it down, but i had the 350 sitting around, so just rebuilt it) i also have extractors on it,,, didn't notice any great difference in power, a lil on economy,(but it stayes in tune) i also fitted LPG, modified an IMPCO type snorkle to take a commadore LPG mixer ring & put a K&N pod filter on the end, just fits neatly with the power steer pump, removed almost ALL the polution piping leaving only the necessary 1's,, EG: 1 going to the vacuum control switch for heater valves, 1 to the charcol filter box & i think 1 comming back out for the heater valve,, and took out the EST module from behind the l/h kick panel, (it works much better sitting on the shelf) lol, hope this has been some help, kind regards waz PS, e-mail me if you would like some pics of under bonnet. |
