They are most likely not stuffed, you may just have wrong oil in it, or been in there too long.

How many k's has it done?
What oil you use?
How often oil change?

Most I6's have a bit of tappet noise on start up anyway, its a ford thing haha. Unless its a real loud noise that stays for a while, you have nothing to worry about.

15w40 is the reccomended oil. I think i use gtx3 in my motor.

The tappets arent "adjustable" so its probably only the oil, but remember they may still all do it every now and then, its just what tappets do sometimes, especially non adjustables

Yeah its probably just the oil in the engine right now. My Fairmont doesnt like when its overdue for a service lol it ticks like a frickin time bomb. If its only on startup and lasts for a few seconds its completely normal, sometimes you might even hear a bit of timing chain rattle on start up until the oil pressure builds
