hi guys. i have been loking at turboing an ea. i had a bit of alook on here a while ago. some people had made j pipes to mount turbos to the standard manifold. how well does this work ? i'm after some real world results i guess.
can someone who has used this setup provide any input as to how well it works ?

Don't bother, just buy a proper manifold. A steam pipe manifold will suffice and they aren't expensive.

I personally dont think they J pipe is as gay as the tractor manifold it'd be on, so yeah bin the lot and use a proper manifold.
Factory ford manifold = POO

having had a bit of a look in the 6 cylinder section it would seem so. extractors make a huge difference. suggesting the std manifold is poo.

Just get a snort manifold, they seem to do the job quite well

Although I have made steam pipe manifolds..
The cast iron isn't that bad for turbo installations..After all it makes respectable power N/A !! If short J pipe is fabed right ?? Keep it same size or smaller than manifold to keep gas speed high and hot!! Keep turbo as low and and as close to manifold as you can.. Remember the turbine flange doesn't have to be horozantal.. It can be at 45* angle ?? and turbine bolted and turned on centre rotating assembly.. So J section can be very short..
