Hi Guys,
Took the car for a spin before and whilst driving I got a warning beep. Beep beep beep pause then repeats. I stopped the car and it continued. Turned it off and restarted then it went off again. Sat there for a couple of minutes then it stopped. Just had a read through the manual but there is no mention of three beeps. Any help would be great car is a NL fairlane 98 6cyl and is all stock. Things that beep:
Low fuel warning - mine starts its racket at 80KM Overspeed warning - got nabbed by this one cause I didn't make it above zero Lights left on warning those are the only ones I know of in an NL, others may have more.... Cheers RD

Plenty of fuel in it, different beep to the speed limit (and it did it whilst parked), lights were on but engine was also running, and it was a different to the light chime.
I have also discovered through research that two beeps with check susp light is the self leveling suspension, 2 beeps with bulb out light is brake lamp out, 5 beeps is oil pressure, 5 sets of 5 beeps is air bag fault Still need to find out what three beeps is. Anyone know? |

3 beeps I believe is the low fuel warning when your trip computer senses 80km or less range in the tank. Mine has done it a number of times and I usually just press reset and it shuts up. My car runs lpg so low fuel is a common occurence.

The cluster will beep in place of the trip computer if it cant see the trip computer, and will usually make all the same beeps as what the trip computer would.
Other possiblilty is the airbag cluster light is blown? Does it light up when the car is turned on? If not, chances are thats the problem. In either circumstance, (sounds silly I know) the beep is usually quieter and of a deeper tone than the normal beeps. |

Vehicles built from November 1994-ON: Will flash the Fault Codes as they are detected by the ECM via the SRS Checklamp Fault Codes must be retrieved manually. Start the Engine The Airbag (SRS) Checklight will stay on for 6 to 8 Seconds and then extinguish. (This indicates the System is operational with no Faults.) Faults in the System will cause the Checklight to: 1. Not illuminate 2. Constantly illuminate or 3. Flash the Fault Codes The Checklight will not register a Fault for 30 to 45 Seconds after the Ignition is switched ON. Fault Codes are displayed as flashes of the Airbag Checklight. Example: Fault Code 24 is represented by: 2 Flashes (2 Second interval) 4 Flashes (5 Second interval) The Code is then repeated. The Fault Codes are organised into two groups 1. The Hard Codes These represent the Fault Codes (Codes 12 to 45) 2. The Repaired Codes (Or Intermittent Codes) These have 40 added to the Hard Codes (12 + 40 = 52) (Codes 52 to 85). Example: Hard Fault Code 12 (Low Battery Voltage) becomes; Repaired Fault Code 52 (When Repaired Fault Code Erasure The Hard Codes are NOT Erasable. Only the Repaired or Intermittent Codes are erasable. Faults pertaining to the Hard Fault Codes must first be repaired. This Converts the Hard Fault Code to a "Repaired Fault Code" and is NOW Erasable. Example: If Code 12 (low battery voltage) was displayed (Problem - Faulty Battery) It is NON-erasable. The Battery is subsequently changed. The ECM now sees that the Battery Volts are OK. It adds 40 to the Hard Fault Code 12 and displays (12 + 40 = 52) Repaired Fault Code 52 (Repaired or Intermittent Code). Because the Fault has been repaired, the Fault Code can be erased from the memory. This principle applies to all Airbag components. To Erase Codes: 1. Carry out Fault Code Extraction 2. When the Codes are flashing; Connect a Jumper Wire between the Airbag Memory Clear Pin and a Suitable Ground. 3. Wait for 5 "Beeps" to sound. 4. Disconnect Jumper Wire. 5. Switch Ignition OFF. 6. Carry out Fault Code Extraction for further Codes. 7. Repeat this Procedure to erase subsequent Codes If the Jumper Wire is NOT removed before the Ignition is switched OFF; Fault Codes will NOT be cleared. Fault Code Extraction Switch Ignition ON Wait until the Checklight extinguishes. (6 to 8 Seconds) Wait for 30 to 45 Seconds. One Fault Code will be displayed at a time. (Highest Priority First). To Retrieve Successive Fault Codes: 1 The Fault indicated by the First Fault Code must be repaired. 2. The Fault Code must be erased. 3. Carry out Fault Code Extraction again. 4. The Next Highest Priority Fault Code will then be displayed. Fault Code Table (Hard Faults) The Fault Codes are listed in order of Highest Priority. Code # Circuit and Status No Lamp Lamp Circuit Continuous Lamp Fault Code Timed Out ECM Disconnected or Inoperative NO Power to ECM 12 Low Battery Volts 13 Airbag Circuit Shorted to Ground 14 Primary Impact Sensor Shorted to Ground 21 ECM Not Mounted to Vehicle Body 22 Safing Sensor Shorted to Power 23 Memory Clear Circuit Improperly Grounded 24 System Disarm Failure OR ECM Fault 32 Airbag Circuit Open OR High Resistance 33 Resistor High Resistance or Open Circuit The Resistor is located on the Wiring Loom near the ECM 34 Airbag Circuit Shorted OR Low Resistance 35 Resistor Low Resistance or Shorted The Resistor is located on the Wiring Loom near the ECM 41 Impact Sensor # 1 Feed Return Open Circuit 42 Impact Sensor # 2 Feed Return Open Circuit 44 Impact Sensor # 1 Not Mounted to Vehicle Correctly 45 Impact Sensor # 2 Not Mounted to Vehicle Correctl Fault Code Table (Repaired Or Intermittent Codes) This list is the same as the Hard Code List. The only difference is that 40 has been added to each Component. This indicates that the ECM is saying that the component has been; 1. Repaired OR 2. Has returned to its Original Preset (intermittent) State. Mounted on the Radiator Support Panel (Approximately the Centre). 2. Mounted on the Brake Pedal Mounting Bracket directly above the Drivers Footrest. (This is in Front of the Heater Duct) The Impact Sensors do NOT need to be replaced in the event of Airbag Deployment. They Automatically Reset themselves. The Impact Sensors are Hard Wired to the Airbag. The ECM also contains a Third Impact Sensor (Safing Sensor). It also contains an Audible Alarm in case of SRS Checklamp Failure. The Audible Alarm will sound; 5 sets of 5 Beeps every 40 Minutes. The Airbag will Deploy in a Front End (or Near Front End) Collision of; Approximately the Impact Deceleration Force of 25 kph into a Brick Wall if: 1. Either (or Both) of the Impact Sensors are activated Plus 2. The Safing Sensor is activated Simultaneously.

Thanks for the help guys. Turns out that it was the 80km fuel warning. The light behind the trip thing had blown the bulb and was barly visable.
