G'day
Does anyone know how much better a 350 Holley is compared to the 2 barrel Webber fitted to the XE/XF. I need to replace the single barrel Stromberg fitted to my 250 XC and would like to know which of the two would be most cost effective etc. Thanks

Personally, I'd choose the XE Weber & manifold. I used to have one on a TE Cortina. The engine ran quite smoothly & started easily. I've used the Holley 350 on other cars but found they use more fuel compared to the standard carb (even when jetted correctly).
Depending on their availability, I reckon they'd cost about the same to buy and fit. Maybe one of the members have one sitting around.

G'Day Mate,
Ive had both model carbs on my TE Cortina. They are much for much on performance. I prefer the Weber as it is already jetted correctly for the motor and it has better fuel consumption at lower revs. The weber only uses 1 throat till about 60% throttle then aggressivly opens the second via a mechanical linkage. In a holley, both butterflies open togther. They will both cost about the same for a rebuilt model, but u can usually pick up a good second hand one from the wreakers for about $50. Hope this helps. |

There is a progressive 2 barrel Holley:

for the most part, hollet carburettors are best described as poorly regulated fuel leaks, a webber in good condition from an XE will s**t all over the holley

I had both the 350 holley and XF weber on my XC 250 xflow. Seriously spent ages trying to get the jetting correct on the holley and the ute still ran badly, unless it was at wot. Even tried soldering and redrilling the jets to get the small enough. I found the weber much better for driveability and it still had the same go at wot. The engine was standard apart from extractors.
