Is Wynn's Engine Protectant any good? I just put it into my stock Falcon, but it's hard to tell if there's any improvement yet.
Anyone else had good/bad experiences with engine protectant additives?

yeah you have a good point, marketnig is definitely one of them
So how do these additives really "protect" the engine? What are they made of?

Oil protects an engine.
Inside the bottle is an oil additive. Therefore its protecting the engine when applied. It does SFA. Actually I lie, it reduces fuel consumption majorly. the more Wynn's Engine Protection you put in, that amount of money could have been fuel.

how many km's has the car done? Nulon make a good engine protectant. They have two types, one u add every 50 000km's and one every 10000. If ur engine is showing signs of wear, id stick a bottle in at every oil change. It basically contains ptfe which reduces friction. I recently switched to nulon 15w50 fully synthetic oil and found i didn't need any additives..so if u use a good quality oil, additives aren't required..

for cars that have high K's I use PROMA, for cars that are new, or low K's I use Microglide.
I wouldn't touch wynns, or nulon etc.. they're all cheap products with low grade results. I have spoken about PROMA and Microglide in other threads, feel free to search the terms for a detailed description..

The only oil additive i have ever known to work is that lifter free stuff. Lots of people swear by it as it works a treat.
Dont know about engine protection stuff though.. |

I have never heard of PROMA, but I will check it out at the shops
I heard about Microglide at a flea market last week. The salesman told me that he guarantees the end user 1,000,000 kms He also told me that after putting the product into a car, he got 800,000 km out of it and something about the bearing marks were still there from when the car had done ZERO kms. Is all this true? Microglide sounds too good to be true, but then it might be true afterall
