hey guys im just after a few opinions.. i pick up my new xf project throughout the week and im chasing some ideas. the car is as follows...
-beige in colour
-ex country car
-6 seater
-coloum shift auto
-everything original except radio and spark plug leads apparently..(comes with the og. leads.)
-grandad sunvisor

-im just wondering wheather or not to work and tidy up the original donk or go for a 302 crate motor?
-should i just lower it over a set of snowflake alloys maybe 12 slots, or go all out for a set of 20" chrome
- should i keep the bench seat front or buckets..?
-its getting a respray so im after ideas of colours.
-i want to keep the bodywork standard for a classic look (no kits or scoops)
- i want to go low.. should i get airbags or just really slam it
- it wont be my daily just a tidy cruiser

any ideas or pics for inspiration.. thanks guys ill post pics of the rebuild starting next weekend..

first of all congrats on buying it what a good buy.
my brothers first car was an xe with an xf front. it was diamond white, he dumped it on 12 slotters and had a 302 in it my f@rt also had an xd ute with a wild 302 in it with a xf front. he tinted the headlights and tail lights and it was a grey colour. sadly i have no pics. but i think ego would look awesome, lower it with snowflakes cant go wrong, but then again you did say it was a tidy cruiser so 18,19 or 20 inch wheels would be mint. agree with the body kit standerd to maybe some twinlights would look good.

throw a EFI 5.0ltr in it easy on emissions and will be more economical as well as get up and go with a few small mods, go old skool rims cragers or sumthin,10s on the back will fit nicely & 5s on the front. :) But thats me. Good Luck

Love XF. My first car was one with 351c. Took some work to do it but was good fun.

i was thinking a tough 351 c4 straight gas combo, id like to get a set of dragway indys or centrelines. ill see what other xf owners if keeping it old skool i think of nothing better than having a set of carbs and airfilter hanging out of the top of the bonnet..

Set of XD tags will see the carbs out of bonnet, but with XF your stuck with gas and emmission restrictions. Nice combo though you can do great things with gas now.

Well with an XD your still illegal with carbs out the bonnet. The oinkers like to knock off people who are running Holleys on XD's as the holley is non emission compatable anyway.
Go straight gas with twin 425 Impco mixers on Holley 600 base plates. Then old school out the bonnet.
The 425 impco actually looks pretty damn good when polished up.
