Not having photoshop i went out and did the old-fashioned cut & paste on my wagon. I wanted to see how the window line would look blacked out so i cut out some black card/paper & blu.tack-ed it on. I did this on the passenger side so i could move the car around to get the best light.

Then i wanted to see if a 40mm chrome strip would look good down the side of the wagon so for this i used a bit of folded tinfoil again blu.tack-ed on. Since putting the NF grille on the front I reckon it needs more chrome, well i used to be an electroplater & gold looks great too. :) but not on this car!

Great site too, I've been trawling through the forums for a while before doing anything and now the mod bug has hit again i just can't stop. Oh yeah, i've got some chrome interior doors handles on it now too. :D

Interesting concept with the window blackout. You would need to paint the mirros black to for the full effect.

Good to see another Wagon getting some love as well.

Cheers
BenJ

Did something like this with my last "hatch" found that heavily tinted windows and using a "gloss" black vinal worked really well... It looked great.

Just got a local sign wirghter to fit it on properly

You're right BenJ, the mirrors would have to be blacked out, GLi style. It does seem to lower the waistline of the wagon a bit visually, as I don't want to lower the suspension due to the goat tracks (SA rural roads) i have to drive on.
Hey mix-six, vinyl is so 70's, i remember taking it off the roof of my VJ Valiant 318 V8 2-door years ago, it wasn't good then & sure isn't any better now. :)
But then i could paint the roof & racks white to go with the blacked out windows and the lower half of the wagon teal blue with a few lightning strikes coming from the wheels  GO THE POWER!! Then drive it through Hawthorn, Melbourne

And here I was thinking more chrome too. I was thinking of getting LTD chrome window surrounds and see how that looks.

I think you need the black mirrors to see the full effect.

I would say get the ghia chrome strips rather than those fat ones. Not sure if the fairlane ones fit straight onto wagons? regardless you could get normal ones and extend them anyway.
